Link Thru Social with guest Jeff Revilla

The Future of Podcasting Is Not Downloads. It’s Experiences.

I recently had the opportunity to appear on Episode 10 of the Link Through Social Podcast to talk about something I’ve been building toward for years: turning podcasting into a live, community-driven experience that actually creates revenue opportunities for independent creators.

During the conversation, we discussed the vision behind the Poduty Live Podcast Theater and why I believe podcasting is entering a completely new era.

For years, podcasters were taught the same formula:
Start a show.
Grow downloads.
Hope advertisers eventually show up.

The problem is that model only works for a very small percentage of creators.

Most podcasters never reach the scale needed to generate meaningful income through traditional advertising. But that does not mean their audience lacks value. In fact, smaller audiences are often more engaged, more loyal, and more willing to support creators directly through live events and real-world experiences.

That idea became the foundation for what we are building at Poduty.

The Infinite Seat Theater Concept

The Poduty Live Podcast Theater is a small physical venue in Tarentum, Pennsylvania just outside Pittsburgh. On paper, it seats around 40 people. But in reality, the capacity is unlimited because every show can also livestream to viewers around the world.

That is what I call the “Infinite Seat Theater.”

It combines the intimacy of a comedy club with the reach of the internet.

A podcaster can perform live in front of a real audience while simultaneously creating content for thousands of online viewers. The room becomes more than a recording studio. It becomes an experience.

And experiences are valuable.

Lowering the Barrier for Independent Creators

One of the biggest challenges in live podcasting is that most venues are not built for creators.

Hotels, banquet halls, and traditional event spaces often require large deposits, expensive contracts, and outside production teams. That makes live events risky for independent podcasters.

Poduty flips that model.

Creators can walk into a fully equipped stage environment with cameras, lighting, audio, livestreaming, ticketing, and production already in place. They perform their show, connect with their audience, and leave with professionally recorded content.

No complicated setup.
No teardown.
No giant upfront investment.

Most importantly, podcasters are not left financially exposed at the end of the night.

Instead of charging creators thousands of dollars upfront, we work on shared success. If the audience shows up, everyone wins.

Why Live Podcasting Is Growing Right Now

During the interview, we also talked about how AI and digital overload are creating a stronger demand for real-world human experiences.

Ironically, the more artificial our online world becomes, the more people crave authentic connection.

People want to gather.
They want community.
They want events that feel real and personal.

Podcasting is uniquely positioned for this shift because listeners already feel connected to hosts. Many fans spend hours every week listening to creators during commutes, workouts, and daily life. Attending a live podcast is like finally stepping into the room you’ve been imagining for years.

That emotional connection is powerful.

Podcasting Needs More Small Venues

Comedy has comedy clubs.
Music has local venues.
Independent film has theaters.

Podcasting is still building its live infrastructure.

I believe the next evolution of podcasting is not giant arena tours. It is hundreds of smaller spaces where creators can experiment, perform, build communities, and monetize directly.

That is why I think Pittsburgh is in a unique position right now. We are seeing creators, podcasters, streamers, and content communities begin to gather in ways that simply did not exist a few years ago.

The momentum is building.

Building Something Bigger Than a Podcast

At its core, the Poduty Podcast Theater is not just about recording podcasts.

It is about helping creators turn their shows into experiences.

It is about helping podcasters think beyond downloads and start building communities people want to physically show up for.

It is about creating a system where independent creators can monetize sooner instead of waiting years for sponsorships that may never come.

And honestly, it is about proving that podcasting can become something much bigger than we originally imagined.

The future of podcasting is not just audio.

The future is live.
The future is interactive.
The future is community-driven.

And I think we are only getting started.
